Select the right tyre for the job
Inspect tyres regularly - pneumatics daily, solids once a week
Lubricate vehicle - assures free-rolling, reduces tyre drag and skidding stops. Avoid over-lubrication, oil and grease is detrimental to rubber
Keep roads and aisles clean
Avoid excessive heat
Avoid overloading
Avoid standing loads
Check wheel and axle alignment
Avoid sharp turns
Avoid rapid acceleration, harsh braking
Allow sufficient clearance between tyre and vehicle
Avoid oil, grease, petrol and acid
Line travel routes - marked aisles serve as guides, warn drivers of obstacles
Centre tyres on wheels when oversizing tyres on wheels, the maximum permissible for press-on tyres is 25,4 mm overhang
Use proper equipment - using a light vehicle for loads too heavy causes overloading
Instruct operators
When ordering new tyres give the supplier as much information of the operation as possible
