Rules for longer tyre life
- Select the right tyre for the job
- Inspect tyres regularly - pneumatics daily, solids once a week
- Lubricate vehicle - assures free-rolling, reduces tyre drag and skidding stops. Avoid over-lubrication, oil and grease is detrimental to rubber
- Keep roads and aisles clean
- Avoid excessive heat
- Avoid overloading
- Avoid standing loads
- Check wheel and axle alignment
- Avoid sharp turns
- Avoid rapid acceleration, harsh braking
- Allow sufficient clearance between tyre and vehicle
- Avoid oil, grease, petrol and acid
- Line travel routes - marked aisles serve as guides, warn drivers of obstacles
- Centre tyres on wheels when oversizing tyres on wheels, the maximum permissible for press-on tyres is 25,4 mm overhang
- Use proper equipment - using a light vehicle for loads too heavy causes overloading
- Instruct operators
- When ordering new tyres give the supplier as much information of the operation as possible
